Text Box: Now may be the time for your short-term mission dream to come true. During summer 2008 you are invited to spend 2 weeks in Gweru, Zimbabwe working alongside local volunteers in face-to-face and hands-on ministry with AIDS orphans. Plans are now being made for a Vision Outreach Program during the first part of June 2008. The total cost will be $3,000. $2,000 of that amount will be required by the first of April in order to purchase airline tickets. We hope to have six to eight participants in this program, so if you are interested please contact us soon at vision4africa@adtech.co.zw PASSION Ministry experience or training is not a requirement for this special assignment. The only pre-requisite is a heart bursting with God’s love for children deprived of parents through the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Out of ten million such orphans in Africa, three million are reportedly living in Zimbabwe. TRAINING Training will be provided in the first few days and focus on cultural awareness and customs as well as in outreach skills. Although English is our official language and taught in school, many of the younger children are not yet fluent. A volunteer will be assigned to help you with translation where needed. Why pay to volunteer in Africa? MISSION Vision Outreach Program is a ministry extension of the Tapuwa Upenyu Orphan Program (TUOP) which cares for orphans in Zimbabwe. We are dedicated to spreading the gospel through the discipleship and care of the children of Zimbabwe. We make it possible for you to make a difference in the life of an orphan, and in your own life as well. You will be helping to strengthen the spiritual lives of the children and the church in Zimbabwe. Your cost for this project will cover your expenses and also provide the manpower and project funding to expand the work of TAPUWA UPENYU ORPHAN PROGRAM throughout our country as we follow Christ’s command to “make disciples of every nation”. You’ll be given opportunity to minister in local churches on any Sunday you are in Gweru. You will attend an African service, and if you’re able and willing, you will be invited to preach the word, share a testimony or perhaps sing or play an instrument. In this way, you will be part of the work that has been established in this area of Zimbabwe. There are many churches in the area, and they enjoy the ministry of visiting believers. Antelope Game Park

Only 9 kilometers from Gweru city center, the Antelope Game Park offers visitors the opportunity of spotting a large variety of game and birdlife.  You can walk with the lions, feed the cubs, ride or swim with an African elephant and view game on horseback, carriage or in a Landrover.  Lunch or dinner is required.  Activities are priced separately and range from $15 - $40 each.  Day trips and overnight trips are available.  A gift shop offers African crafts and art which can be purchased in US currency.  No credit cards accepted.
