Text Box: Dan and Theresa McArthur, missionaries to Zimbabwe, Africa, founded Vision For Africa in 1988. They arrived in Gweru, Zimbabwe with their four children in 1989. Andrew, child number five, was born in Zimbabwe. "Where there is no vision the people perish," (Proverbs 29:18) has been the cry of their hearts from the very beginning. When they first arrived in Zimbabwe, Dan’s primary ministry focus was to train and establish Biblical leadership in the existing local churches and bring them to the place where they could work independent of missionary assistance. He did that through: One on one discipleship Leadership training seminars Dan’s goal was realized in 2001 when the churches in Gweru were building their own buildings, training leaders and planting churches while the McArthur’s were in the US on furlough. In 2001 the McArthur’s were instrumental in launching the Tapuwa Upenyu Orphan Program (TUOP). TUOP was established in order to help children who are orphans due to the AIDS epidemic and is an important ministry focus for the McArthur's. The McArthur's vision is to see captives set free, prisoners released from darkness, and the lost saved through the cross of Jesus Christ. Zimbabwe has been their base of ministry since 1989 but Vision For Africa has a heart to reach the nations of Central and Southern Africa. Doors are beginning to open up for the McArthur's to do training seminars and ministry in neighboring countries. Present areas of ministry are: Tapuwa Upenyu Orphan Program Feeding programs Preaching and teaching Leadership training “Hearing the Voice of God” training seminars "The Four Walls of the Church" training seminars Pastoring Pastors Prayer ministry in their home Sponsoring "Farming God's Way" seminars School of Ministries Dan and Theresa are also the area coordinators as well as facilitators for Family Foundations International (FFI), a seminar based ministry to families. Zimbabwe is just beginning to climb out of one of the most difficult crisis situations it has ever been in. People are desperate and hungry for God. Jesus came to heal the broken hearted and to set the captives free. Our heart’s desire is to be vessels of God’s love in order to do what Jesus came to do. “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38
