Dan and Theresa McArthur are the proud parents of five children, two of which are married. On July 3, 2007 they became grandparents for the first time. Our family just keeps growing.
Shonda, Damien and Cole Mangabhai Their oldest daughter, Shonda, is married to Damien Craig Mangabhai. They live in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Their baby, Aidan Cole Mangabhai, was born on July 3, 2007. He weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. He has a lot of black hair and is about the most beautiful baby ever. Dan and Theresa were able to be in the US for his birth. They are enjoying being grandparents. Shonda worked at Just For Kids Daycare up until time for maternity leave. Damien works as a quality manager at Kennametal Engineered Products. They are active in their local church body, Covenant Church East. Shonda is part of the prayer ministry and Damien is on the worship team. They are expecting our second grandchild in August. Update to come.
Lisha and Luke Fine Lisha and Luke live in Hartsville, South Carolina. Lisha is the Manager of the Midnight Rooster Eatery, a quaint, artistic coffee shop/eatery in their town. She also does assorted cleaning jobs so she is a very busy lady. Luke is the IT Coordinator at ACS Technology, a computer software company in Florence, SC. They make computer software for churches and schools. Luke is head of the worship department at the Hartsville Community Fellowship and Lisha is on the worship team. Lisha is head of the intermediate children’s department at their church and loves it. She’s very creative and innovative in her ministry. Luke travels often with different Christian musicians. They have a cat named Jasper and a fish named Grover Honeybottom. They recently bought the house they live in and are having fun painting and fixing things in Lisha’s own unique style. Lisha is also expecting in 2008. She will have our third grandchild in November. There will also be an update on this great occasion.
Robby Robby is engaged to be married! Her name is Tatum Shea Beasley. She’s a beautiful blond, very quiet and lovely. The whole family is falling in love with her. The two of them met when Robby was living in South Carolina. Since then she moved to Colorado and Robby moved back to Ohio. It was during that long distance period of their relationship that they realized they didn’t want to live without each other and became engaged. The long distance relationship is no fun so Robby has just quit his present job and he is moving to Colorado. Tatum is studying to become a nurse in Brighton, Colorado. Robby is still all about music. He loves guitar mostly. He plays at assorted coffee shops and other gigs, as well as on the worship team at church. Because Tatum wants to finish up her schooling, the two of them are planning an October wedding in 2008.
Charis Charis (Bethy) is a lovely young lady at 19 years old. She spent the last year with her mom and dad and Andy in Zimbabwe. She finished her high school while there. She was on the worship team at the English speaking church she attended in Gweru. There’s never a dull moment with her around. She keeps her social calendar, as well as everybody else’s, very full. Just before we returned to the US, Charis made a missions trip to Zambia with a group of young people from the Midlands Christian Training Center in Gweru. She had an amazing time! Her plans are to now get a job for a while here in the US so she can save a little money before starting college classes. She hopes to room with friends in Kansas City while she works and studies.
Andrew Andrew is 14 and is going into 9th grade. During the year that we were in Zimbabwe he grew about 6 inches. So when we got to the States in May, everybody here had quite a surprise. He’s good looking too. He plays drums and bongo drums and is also on the worship team at the English speaking church in Gweru. He loves going to youth group and keeps busy with lots of friends. His favorite pastime is to make “movies” with his friends. They get very creative. He loves to swim and play squash. If a grade was given for playing X-Box, he’d get an A. He is a very ingenious sort of guy and is always thinking of new inventive ways to improve things or make new inventions.
Dan and Theresa It has been so nice to be in the US spending time with our family. What a joy to be grandparents as well. There’s nothing in the world like it. October will come soon enough and it will be great to get back to Zimbabwe doing the things we love. |
